Radcliffe FC are thrilled to announce the signing of former Aston Villa youngster, Callum Rowe. The 24-year-old joins the club from Rushall Olympic, switching orange for blue as we continue to embark on our new venture in the National League North.

In the early stages of his career, Callum learned his trade in the Aston Villa academy, going through the ranks before making his senior debut in a memorable FA Cup third round tie against Liverpool. The Birmingham outfit put their faith in a youthful squad which went on to only lose 4-1 against a Liverpool side who had the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané to call upon, with Rowe getting the assist for Aston Villa’s goal with a perfectly-weighted through ball.

After leaving the Villans, Rowe put pen-to paper on a permanent move to Devon as he signed for Exeter at the age of 22, playing his part in their promotion to League One as they finished 2nd in an impressive season for the south west side.

Since then, he’s featured for the likes of Hereford, Yeovil Town and Bath City, building his playing experience at the top end of non-league football with his most recent successful spell coming at Redditch United last season, where he played against Radcliffe in our 4-0 victory last December.

Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley boost their ranks with a player who can feature in a number of positions, most notably centre midfield, but Callum is also comfortable in wide areas at left back, left-wing back and left midfield.

Manager Anthony Johnson spoke to the media after welcoming his new signing.

Johnson, said: ‘Callum played against us last year for Redditch in the FA Trophy and was absolutely unbelievable, leading to our interest in him last season but we couldn’t seal the deal back then. We kept in contact about his injury towards the back end of the campaign and now feels like the right time to bring him in.

He’s a fantastic centre midfielder, very technical and very classy on the ball but he can also do the key stuff off the ball as well. Callum has trained with us a few times over recent weeks and really looks the part, I’m delighted to have him here at Radcliffe.’

Welcome to the Neuven Stadium, Callum!
