Safeguarding & Welfare

Radcliffe Football Club takes its safeguarding responsibilities very seriously and we acknowledge the responsibility the Club has in ensuring and safeguarding the welfare of every child, young person and adult at risk, so they have a positive and enjoyable experience when visiting our stadium.

We work alongside The Football Association and our County FA in ensuring that:

The club implements preventative safeguarding measures to create safe football environments.

Create a culture where staff and volunteers understand that safeguarding is ‘everyone’s responsibility’.

Make the reporting of concerns as easy as possible.

Ensure safeguarding and child protection concerns are investigated swiftly and thoroughly and in conjunction with relevant statutory agencies.

The club complies with government legislation relating to safeguarding children and other vulnerable people, and we also adhere to The Football Association, and the County FA safeguarding policies, regulations and standards.

Under 14’s policy for matchdays

Anyone under 14 years of age will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult (over 18 years of age) who has purchased a membership/season ticket / match ticket for themselves and the child.

Anyone under 14 years of age must be sat / stood with their guardian or at least in the same part of the ground where they can have a clear view of the young person they are responsible for.

If the child / young person becomes separated from their guardian, they should report to a ground steward who will assist. In the event of any unacceptable behaviour from anyone under the age of 14 who is not under the direct supervision of a responsible adult, the child / young person involved will be escorted to a safe place and the guardian will be approached if known where they are in the ground or will be requested to collect the child via Tannoy call, appropriate measures will then be taken depending on the incident at hand.

If anyone under the age of 14 is found to be in the ground unaccompanied, every effort will be made to contact a parent / guardian or other family member via telephone to come and collect them. If we are unable to contact a suitable adult, then police will be informed and take responsibility for the individual involved.

Reporting issues

Anyone who believes a child, young person or vulnerable adult is at immediate risk of harm should contact the police as soon as possible (telephone 999 or 101).

On matchdays, if any individuals have concerns or queries regarding the safety of a young person, they should speak to a member of our matchday stewards in the first instance.

Non-urgent concerns about the welfare of a child, young person or vulnerable adult should be reported to the Club’s Safeguarding Welfare Officer Pete Lofthouse on 0161 724 8346 or via email: safeguarding@radcliffefc.com

If you have concerns that any member of our staff, volunteer or participant has behaved in a way that has harmed and/or has demonstrated that they are unsuitable to work with children, young people or adults at risk please contact club safeguarding staff as soon as possible. In such cases the club will liaise with the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) or Adult Social Care for consultation and advice.
