Radcliffe FC are thrilled to announce the signing of Chester captain, George Glendon. The 29-year-old arrives at the Neuven Stadium on a deal until the end of the current campaign, with the option of a further 12 months.
A midfielder with a keen eye for goal, Glendon began his career in the academy of current Premier League champions Manchester City, becoming captain of their Elite Development Squad whilst also featuring for England at U16’s and U17’s level.
A loan move to Fleetwood Town in the 2016-17 season – followed by a permanent transfer to the west coast at the end of the campaign – ended his stay at the Etihad Stadium, appearing over 50 times before putting pen-to-paper with Carlisle United in 2018.
Glendon found his home for the next five years in 2019, as he signed for Chester – under the management of Bernard and Jonno – and would immediately make his mark at the Deva Stadium, becoming their club captain for four seasons and also won the Golden Boot Award after a fantastic 2023/24 campaign.
George is the son of Kevin Glendon, the Radcliffe manager for over 20 years in the nineties and noughties so he spent a large amount of his childhood at the Neuven Stadium as a kid, now returning to M26 as a player and we’re delighted to have him here.
Our new number eight will be available for tomorrow’s National League North tie against Hereford at the Neuven Stadium, watch him in action here!
