Radcliffe FC are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Mark Halstead, who joins on a one-year deal with an option at the Neuven Stadium.

The 34-year-old arrives at M26 on the back of an phenomenal title-winning campaign with Widnes in the NPL West Division, making 47 appearances and keeping 23 clean sheets, as well as winning their Supporters’ Player of the Season award and featuring in the league’s 2024/25 Team of the Season.

Hailing from Blackpool, Halstead made his league debut for his home-town club back in 2011, featuring against the likes of John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba in his only Premier League appearance, before joining Shrewsbury Town after a number of loan spells with the Tangerines.

After a three-year stay at the Crowd Meadow, Halstead signed for Southport, and then arrived at Morecambe a year later. Following another three-year stint with the Shrimps, he swapped the west coast for the south coast by becoming the new number one at Torquay United.

Just over a century of appearances later, Halstead moved back to the North West with Widnes, enduring a highly-successful campaign before signing on the dotted line with the Boro.

Our new number 21 expressed his excitement after putting pen-to-paper with Bernard and Jonno’s side.

Halstead, said: ‘I’m excited and really happy to be here, I’m delighted it’s finally done after speaking with the gaffers a couple of weeks ago, it’s a project that I’m excited by and I can’t wait to meet the lads and get going. I’ve played a lot of games at a lot of levels, I’ve got a lot of experience and a few promotions and I still feel like I’ve got a lot to give.’

Welcome to the Neuven Stadium, Mark!
