Radcliffe FC are delighted to announce the signing of forward Jon Taylor, who joins on a two-year deal at the Neuven Stadium.
The 32-year-old gets the ball rolling on our summer transfer business as he becomes our first off-season signing of 2025, adding to the squad following the news of our released and retained list which can be read in full here.
Operating predominantly from the left-hand side of the attack, our new signing will look to add pace and power in the final third whilst being both the scorer and the provider of goals, which he’s done throughout his years in the game at a much higher level.
With a plethora of experience under his belt, Taylor boasts over 400 appearances across all three divisions in the English Football League featuring for five well-established outfits including Shrewsbury Town, Peterborough United, Rotherham United and Doncaster Rovers.
The Liverpudlian has two promotions to his name so far in his career, playing just under 40 times as Shrewsbury finished second in the 2011/12 League Two campaign, and a victory in the 2018 League One play-off final where he represented Rotherham for 75 minutes and went on to secure a 2-1 result at Wembley Stadium.
Taylor arrives from Salford City following a narrow miss on securing a play-off spot in England’s fourth tier, but will now be raring to go again as he experiences non-league football for the first time, and will wear the number 11 shirt in the National League North for Radcliffe.
Jon recently spoke to the media team after putting pen-to-paper at M26.
Taylor, said: ‘I’m over the moon to be here, it’s something that I wanted to be done early and I’m pleased it’s finally over the line. I’ll make no bones about it, I’ve come to the club to get promoted. I spoke to Bernard and Jonno and as soon as I chatted with them I knew straight away that this was the club I wanted to sign for, I’m really excited to be working under those two.
I’d describe myself as a direct and fast player who’ll give everything for the team at all times, and I’ve got a keen eye for goal which I’m hoping to bring to the Neuven Stadium. I’ve heard a lot about the club and how special the fans are, I can’t wait to put on the Radcliffe shirt and play.’
Welcome to the Neuven Stadium, Jon!
