It’s the battle of the Boros tonight as Radcliffe and Bacup Borough lock horns in the Quarter Final of the Lancashire Challenge Trophy, the winner advancing to meet one of Padiham, Southport or the victor of tonight’s other tie, Lancaster City vs Longridge Town.

A win takes Bernard and Jonno’s side one step closer to being champions of a competition that they have never won, despite reaching the final on two occasions. Plenty of changes are expected in tonight’s starting line-up following a 1-1 draw at Needham Market three days prior, giving a chance to several players who are looking to impress.

The Opposition

Bacup Borough are members of the North West Counties First Division North and currently sit 9th after 24 matches. They haven’t won a game since November, that being the last round of this competition, having had four games postponed since whilst picking up three defeats and a draw.

The east Lancashire outfit began their 2024/25 campaign in stunning fashion after starting the season with four wins from four and clean sheets in all of those fixtures, recording a 5-0, 2-0, 2-0, 4-0 record before quickly dropping off, now sitting in the middle of the pack, 11 points outside of the play-off places.
