FA Cup action returns to the Neuven Stadium for the first time since 2021, as Bury visit M26 for an eye-catching Greater Manchester derby.

With the win over Warrington Town a fortnight ago, Radcliffe reached the Third Qualifying Round for only the eighth time in the club’s history, and it is the second time in the past decade that the Boro have progressed to this stage.

The winner of the tie earns a place in the fourth and final qualification round, with the 24 National League sides also entering the hat at that stage.

The Opposition

Our FA Cup opposition are currently sat third in the North West Counties Premier Division, gaining 25 points from their opening 11 matches with four games in hand on Ramsbottom, who sit on 30 points at the top of the table.

Bury are on a good run of form with four wins in their last five, having scored 13 goals in that run compared to just the four conceded at the end other.

So far, the Shakers have progressed through four rounds of the competition with victories over Congleton Town, Avro, Garforth Town and Blyth Spartans by a combined score of 11-3.

Ones to Watch

Nineteen-year-old Alex Cherera has been excellent for Bury so far this campaign, making him one to look out for this weekend. In 14 appearances so far this season, the striker has scored nine goals and provided two assists which includes six goals in four FA Cup matches.

Former Boro man Bebeto Gomes has been another key element of Bury’s attack so far this campaign with 5 goals and seven assists to his name this season. The Portuguese midfielder has started all but one of Bury’s matches in the 2024/25 campaign, and will certainly be in the middle of any attacks on Saturday.

Last Time Out

Ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, the two sides met in a friendly that was comfortably won by three goals to nil in favour of the hosts. Kole Hall put the Boro ahead in the first half as the striker fired the ball past the defender on the goal line from the edge of the area.

Radcliffe almost doubled their lead with a free kick on the edge of the area, but the Bury goalkeeper was able to reach the strike before the ball fell favourably for Luis Morrison, who tapped into the back of the Shakers net from a yard out.

Radcliffe added a third goal in the 80th minute, as Khius Metz beat the offside trap and slotted the ball into the bottom corner from inside the penalty area to complete the scoring.
