Radcliffe welcome Buxton in a midweek match-up under the floodlights, which is a rearranged fixture. With both sides having two wins in the last five, as well as potent attacks, this contest has all the makings of an end-to-end game.

The last four meetings between the two sides saw an average of four goals a game, as Buxton won each of the last four meetings.

The Opposition

Buxton travel to the Neuven stadium fresh off the back of dismantling Needham Market. The Bucks had put six past their opponents before the half-time whistle, and could have continued the scoring in the second half if not for the Marketmen’s ‘keeper making a handful of saves.

Tonight’s opponents have won their last two league fixtures, a welcome improvement after a run of seven defeats in eight before that. If not for the three wins on the bounce to start the campaign, Buxton would be in the group hovering around the bottom four.

Since 1972, the two sides have met 12 times, with Buxton having won on ten of those occasions. The Boro’s one win coming in 1972, though when hosting Radcliffe have not lost by more than a one-goal margin.

Ones to Watch

When given time and space on the ball, Ethan Fitzhugh is able to cause trouble for opposition defences with a good strike at his disposal as well if the opportunity arises. With one goal so far this campaign, the former Leicester City midfielder could cause problems for the Boro defence.

Tom Elliot has been a regular amongst the goals so far this campaign, dispatching on five occasions including a hat-trick on Saturday. Approaching the five-year mark with the side, he has the ability to find the back of the net with over 25 goals in Buxton colours as well as providing more than 50 assists, it will be key to keep him quiet.

Last Time Out

When the two sides met in March 2022, the Bucks won 3-0 on their way to the Northern Premier League title as Diego De Girolamo scored all three goals at The Silverlands.

Buxton picked out the back of the net on three occasions inside the first half, as the league leaders extended the gap at the top of the table. De Girolamo’s first two strikes came from twenty yards out and found the roof of the net from the edge of the area, past a helpless Cam Belford.

The goal to seal the hat-trick was put away via the penalty spot as the Buxton forward converted after Jamie Ward was brought down inside the area.

Radcliffe were frustrated throughout the match and had few chances of note as Theo Richardson went relatively untested over the course of both halves.
