Radcliffe will aim to continue their positive form of late as the Boro travel to Derbyshire to lock horns with already relegated Farsley Celtic this evening, with three points up for grabs which would secure safety if they’re claimed by Bernard and Jonno’s side.
Please note that this match will take place at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium, home of fellow National League North outfit Buxton, due to restrictions with Farsley’s home ground.
The Opposition
A torrid season both on and off the pitch for tonight’s hosts means they’re currently situated at the foot of the National League North table, and were relegated on the first day of the month after a 3-1 defeat to Oxford City. Since the turn of the year, a young squad has lined up for Farsley under difficult circumstances, picking up two points since the sides last met on New Year’s Day.
The Celt Army are currently enduring a winless run of 20 games with their last victory coming way back on Boxing Day as they grabbed a 3-1 win over Curzon Ashton at the Tameside Stadium.
Due to troubles off the pitch, David Stockdale’s team has experienced a large amount of turnover this campaign, with 16 players all joining after the beginning of November. Farsley have also named a squad with empty spots on the substitutes’ bench regularly throughout the season, so the odds are against them going into tonight’s affair.
Ones To Watch
19-year-old wing-back Cole Hyde has been an important member of the Farsley Celtic squad since he put pen-to-paper last summer. The youngster has played 78% of the games this season, scoring twice including one on his debut in a 2-1 win against Warrington Town.
João Silva has put the ball in the back of the net on four occasions in 24 appearances so far this campaign, the most of any player in the current team. The 21-year-old has scored twice in his last four outings, and will be looking to continue his momentum under the lights this evening.

Last Time Out
Wednesday 1st January 2025: Radcliffe 3-0 Farsley Celtic
Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley’s side kicked off the new year with a vital 3-0 win over Farsley Celtic, moving them one step closer to leapfrogging their opponents out of the relegation zone thanks to first-half goals from Brad Jackson and Matt Sargent, with the icing on the cake from Jordan Hulme after the interval.
It only took the Boro 15 minutes to unlock the Farsley defence and open the scoring after a dominant start to the game. Hulme’s shot was parried into a dangerous area by Kieran Flavell and Jackson took full advantage by being perfectly placed to thump home off the underside of the crossbar.
Just before the half-hour mark, Radcliffe were in dreamland as Matt Sargent gave the hosts a two-goal cushion to firmly assert their dominance on the fixture. Jackson was involved once again, this time turning provider for the Welsh midfielder to arrive right on time and head beyond Flavell from his dinked cross.
After the restart, the Boro started the second-half proceedings as they began the first with a large amount of possession looking to extend their lead, but early opportunities for Jackson, Greenfield and Hulme all weren’t accurate enough to put Radcliffe three goals to the good.
However, our number nine wouldn’t be denied with his second shot of the half, dispatching his sixth goal of the campaign. Brad Roscoe threaded the ball through the Farsley defence for Hulme to slide into the bottom right corner of the net, before celebrating joyously with his teammates after 65 minutes.
With five minutes of time added on by the fourth official, there were still opportunities for both teams to change the scoreline. Luca Navarro saw his curling effort tipped behind with an outstanding save from Flavell, before Mateusz Hewelt kept his clean sheet intact with a double stop to deny Aiden Walker and Dylan Youmbi in quick succession.
The game was concluded by the referee shortly after, wrapping up the perfect start to 2025 for Radcliffe at the Neuven Stadium.
