The Boro currently sit in the relegation zone, six points behind both Farsley Celtic and Warrington, with games in hand on both of the sides. With the match on boxing day having been abandoned at half-time, Radcliffe have played just four full 90 minutes in the last month, winning two cup matches but losing both in the league.

The Opposition

Off the pitch struggles have been the focus for Farsley Celtic this season with the club having not played a match at The Citadel this campaign, instead they have played seven ‘home’ games so far this campaign with the majority having been held at Buxton’s stadium instead.

Farsley Celtic had a strong start to 2024/25 as the Yorkshire outfit picked up 13 points from the opening eight matches of the season. However, in their last 15 games since Pav Singh’s men have added just 11 points to their league tally.

In Farsley’s last six league matches, Wednesday’s visitors sit 21st in the form table with just four points in that time, an improvement on the stretch of results that saw just one win in eight before the 1-1 draw with Brackley Town.

Ones To Watch

Farsley’s number ten Ben Atkinson captained the side to a 3-1 victory last time out against the high-flying Curzon Ashton. The midfielder sits 4th on the Celtic’s all time appearance list, the same list that sees his brother sit in first. With four goals in 12 starts in the current campaign, Atkinson is the side’s top scorer in the National League.

Wigan’s Finn O’Boyle joined Farsley on a short-term loan in December and has already made an impact on the Celt Army’s results. The 19-year-old put Farsley ahead before half-time against Curzon Ashton, after his team had already gone a goal behind.

Last Time Out

The two sides met last season in the Boro’s historic run in the FA Trophy, as Radcliffe came away the victors in a six-goal thriller at The Citadel.

Radcliffe were two goals to the good at the end of the first half, as a Jude Oyibo brace alongside Anthony Dudley’s tenth goal of the campaign gave Bernard and Jonno’s team a 3-1 lead at the break, with Ben Atkinson converting from the penalty spot early in the half.

With chances few and far between in the second half, Farsley threatened to mount a comeback in the final ten minutes as Jordan Carroll tapped the ball into the back of the Radcliffe net in the 87th minute to make the game 3-2.

Despite the late goal, an injury time finish from Oyibo secured progression into the Third Round of the FA Trophy as well as seeing the winger complete his hat-trick on the afternoon.
