Radcliffe host Hereford on matchday 24 of our 2024/25 National League North campaign, with the potential to climb out of the drop zone for the first time since the end of November.

Over the last five matches, Radcliffe and Hereford are placed 19th and 18th in the form table, with Radcliffe undefeated in their last two league fixtures, while the visitors haven’t recorded a win on the road since a 2-1 victory at Curzon Ashton.

The Opposition

Just after the midway point of the campaign, Hereford are still in contention for the play-offs. The Bulls are currently four points off the top seven, with a minimum of a game in hand on all the sides occupying the spots except one. However, they’re four points worse off than at the 25-game mark last season, which saw them finish fourth in the table.

Over the Christmas period, Hereford rose as high as fifth in the table as they managed to pick up important wins at home against Scarborough and Chorley, as well as a goalless draw at Scunthorpe. Although a 3-0 defeat at home against Kidderminster and a 2-1 loss at the hands of Leamington, followed by a draw with Southport, has seen Paul Caddis’ side drop down to 9th in the table.

Ones To Watch

Derby County’s Ryan Bartley is currently in his fourth month on loan with Hereford and has made 15 appearances in that time. The defender had an instant impact at Edgar Street as he won Player of the Month in October, his first month with the team, and has both a goal and assist during his time in the West Midlands.

Hereford’s experienced striker Andy Williams is the side’s top scorer and could be a big danger on Saturday. The 38-year-old’s career has seen him playing in the Championship, League One and League Two before joining the Bulls last season. Since arriving at Hereford, the forward has scored 16 goals in 45 matches, with five coming in the current campaign.

Last Time Out

26th August 2024 – Hereford 3-3 Radcliffe

When the two sides met in August, the Boro were forced to settle for a point, despite leading the game on two separate occasions.

Radcliffe raced into a two-goal lead within the first 15 minutes of action. Eight minutes into the match, Jamie Morgan managed to meet Scott Duxbury’s low cross at the far post to tap home the game’s opening goal.

Seven minutes later, Brad Roscoe headed the ball into the back of Aaron Chapman’s net to give the visitors a 2-0 lead at Edgar Street. Josh Hancock floated a corner into the danger zone which Rick Smith was able to flick on to the feet of Jordan Hulme, the number nine dinked the ball up into the six-yard area for Roscoe to head goalwards.

The hosts were level before half-time however, as Ahkeem Rose’s low ball into the penalty area from the left wing was perfectly met by Aaron Skinner’s late burst into the box, slamming towards the target to halve the deficit.

On the verge of half-time, another cross from Rose caused trouble for the Radcliffe defence. This time Rick Smith was the unfortunate Hereford scorer, deflecting the ball past his own goalkeeper in Mateusz Hewelt.

The Boro’s lead was restored in the 57th minute as Hancock scored his third of the season. Jude Oyibo had been introduced to the fray moments earlier and already got himself amongst the action. The pacey winger beat his man for pace before picking out Hancock with a low ball into the middle that the attacking midfielder was able to reach on the slide.

Hereford would score the tying and final goal in the 85th minute, 14 minutes before the final whistle. Alex Babos’ corner was curled into the Boro’s six-yard area, with a white shirt able to rise highest in Tate Campbell, heading the ball past Hewelt to end an emphatic afternoon of football.
