Thanks to a late goal from Anthony Dudley last time out, Radcliffe were able to gain a point on the opening day in a thrilling 3-3 encounter, witnessed by 1106 spectators at the Neuven Stadium. Next up, the squad travel south for the first time in our 2024/25 campaign as the Boro lock horns with Kidderminster Harriers.

The Opposition

Last season, Kidderminster were relegated after just one season in the National League as Phil Brown’s side finished 22nd, seven points from safety. The Harriers’ return to the top level of non-league football was not as successful as their previous spell, when they finished just outside the play-offs on three occasions before coming up short against Wrexham in the 2012/13 play-off final.

Kidderminster boss, Phil Brown, has been in charge since the 10th of January 2024, as he replaced outgoing manager Russ Penn. At the time of joining, the Harriers were rock bottom of the table with just 20 points and despite seven wins and five draws from their final 18 games, it was not enough to stay safe.

It’s been a busy summer in Worcestershire, as seven new faces arrived at the Aggborough Stadium ahead of the new campaign. The latest being teenage striker Ben Beresford, who’s on loan for the season from Birmingham City, after successful temporary spells with Banbury United and Gloucester City.

Our hosts this Saturday took all three points on the opening day, as Kidderminster won 2-1 away at Darlington. The Harriers skipper, Amari Morgan-Smith scored early on before Maz Kouhyar doubled the lead as the away side took all three points, despite conceding a late goal to make the final moments nervy.

Ones to Watch

Amari Morgan-Smith is in his second spell with the side after rejoining in 2020. The now 35-year-old began his career in 2007 at Crewe Alexandra but has spent the majority of his time in the top two tiers of non-league football. With 52 goals and 13 assists in 167 matches, he’s been involved in a goal every 0.4 games whilst donning the Kidderminster badge on his chest. The Harriers’ captain has already opened his account for the season with a headed goal against Darlington, and will be looking to replicate that this weekend.

Experienced defender Caleb Richards will be important if Saturday’s hosts aim to keep Radcliffe’s attack quiet. The left back has made 163 appearances since he signed up in 2020, and has only picked up 4 yellow cards in that time. A popular member of the Harriers’ squad, the former Norwich City loanee will have a big job to keep the Boro’s right sided attackers out of the action.
