Following a half-time postponement at the weekend against Curzon Ashton, Radcliffe will attempt to complete matchday 18 of our 2024/25 campaign in full on the road once again at Peterborough Sports tonight.

The Opposition

Peterborough Sports are currently enduring their third successive season in England’s sixth tier, finishing 14th and 15th in the previous two campaigns respectively. They sit around the same area at the moment, occupying the 16th spot in the table with a stop-start first four months of 2024/25.

The Turbines had to wait until matchday four for their first victory of the campaign, when they defeated Buxton by a one-goal margin at the end of August. Since then, they’ve picked up the habit of gaining a few consecutive good results, but following that with almost the same amount of poor results immediately after. Inconsistency has been Peterborough’s downfall this season, which is why they currently obtain only 22 points when it could’ve been so many more.

Radcliffe will need to be on their toes tonight as the hosts are unbeaten in their last five games with three wins and two draws, and will be more than up for the contest despite the cold Tuesday night conditions each team is set to face.

Ones to Watch

Former Leicester City forward Michael Gyasi has four goals to his name so far this season after joining from Boston United last summer. Gyasi won promotion to the National League the season prior, and will be looking to use his pace and power to unlock the Radcliffe defence on Tuesday night.

Goalkeeper Peter Crook has been with the Turbines for just over two years, also signing on the dotted line from Boston United back in 2022. The former England C shot-stopper is a cult hero with Peterborough Sports, his most notable moment being two completed penalty saves in the Southern League Premier Central play-off final against Coalville Town when initially on loan in the 2021/22 campaign, securing promotion to the National League North for his side. He’ll be on hand to try and maintain his clean sheet from the off.
