Radcliffe and Thornton Cleveleys face off in the Second Round of the Lancashire Challenge Trophy tonight on the west coast, with the winner advancing to meet Bacup Borough on the road.
Last season, the Boro were knocked out at the first stage as Padiham won 2-1 at the Neuven Stadium. Radcliffe will want to go further in a competition that they have never won, despite reaching the final on two occasions.
The Opposition
Thornton Cleveleys are members of the North West Counties First Division North and currently sit 13th after 20 matches. They’ve lost five of their last six matches with three narrow defeats, but on two occasions they’ve found themselves losing by four or more goals, however they did win their last match 4-3.
The club is currently competing at its highest level, after winning two division titles in the previous three campaigns. In 32 matches they managed to score 105 goals, whilst conceding just 38 last season.
