Substitute Scott Duxbury was the hero at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium by finding the back of the net in the 91st minute, wrapping up all three points and confirming that Radcliffe will play in the National League North next season.

Bernard and Jonno made three changes to the team that started last Saturday’s stalemate at Leamington, seeing Brad Jackson, Anthony Dudley and Tom Walker reclaim their places in the eleven.

Early chances for Walker, Josh Hancock and Danny Greenfield gave Radcliffe a positive start against their struggling counterparts, who found it hard to threaten in rare spells of possession, and the Boro continued their attacking momentum with further openings.

On the 21-minute mark, Dudley came close to scoring his first goal since February by forcing goalkeeper William Brook into a solid save from his headed attempt, and moments later, Matty Carson’s free kick brushed the side netting from range when some thought it’d nestled into the back of the net.

Radcliffe continued to apply pressure but they couldn’t open the scoring before the break, and it was Farsley who gained the first opportunity after the restart, seeing Justin Iwobi fire wide of the target after gaining half a yard to try his luck.

Left-footed attempts from Carson and Walker looked to test the awareness of Brook ten minutes into the half, neither were accurate enough to break the deadlock but there was growing positivity that a goal was coming for the Boro.

Right on queue, the visitors got their noses in front on 63 minutes as Dudley’s volley ricocheted into the feet of George Glendon who calmly controlled the ball before burying into the back of the net, dispatching his second goal in Radcliffe colours since signing from Chester at the start of the year.

The goalscorer rattled the woodwork with a cross-come-shot not long after via a ball from the right-hand side, coming agonisingly close to doubling both his and Radcliffe’s tally for the evening.

Farsley created a moment of magic with just under ten minutes remaining by scoring an unexpected equaliser, when it looked for all the world like Radcliffe would gain a two-goal cushion at the other end. Iwobi picked up a loose ball before marauding into the final third, dribbling towards an inviting area to strike into the bottom right corner with his left foot.

However, the Boro produced late drama at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium for the second time this season as Bernard and Jonno’s side scored one minute into the additional time at the end of the 90, sparking bedlam amongst the Radcliffe supporters behind the net.

Greenfield found a pocket of space to send an in-swinging cross into the box from the left flank, landing kindly for substitute Scott Duxbury who guided a header home to seal victory in the dying embers, and Radcliffe managed to hold on to confirm their place in the National League North for the 2025/26 campaign.

Our final away fixture of the season kicks off on Monday afternoon, as we visit Victory Park to face Chorley in search of three points.
