Neither team were able to come up with a clinical edge at the Your Co-Op Community Stadium as a 0-0 stalemate meant both teams walked away with a share of the spoils.

Mateusz Hewelt was called into action after six minutes when George Ward wriggled inside and struck low, only to be denied by the feet of the goalkeeper who deflected behind.

George Glendon’s volley and Matty Carson’s teasing cross gave Radcliffe their first chances to break the deadlock, but neither were accurate enough inside 15 minutes.

A big opportunity went begging for the Boro midway into the half as Carson delivered an in-swinging corner into the box which met the head of Lois Maynard, the 36-year-old couldn’t shoot on target when many expected the ball to nestle inside the post.

In a half of very few openings, there was one final chance for Radcliffe to score before the break when Glendon’s turn of pace allowed him to go beyond his closest marker and deliver into the corridor of uncertainty, no blue shirt was perfectly placed to tap home.

On the 52-minute mark, David Ball almost converted his first for the club after Hewelt’s long ball bounced kindly for the striker who took aim, but his attempt bounced wide for a goal kick.

Radcliffe did find the back of the net moments later through Danny Greenfield, only to see his powerful effort off the crossbar denied by the linesman’s offside flag, deeming Ball to be the offender in the build up.

Josh Hancock received possession from Carson in a promising area before misjudging the ball when he attempted to pull the trigger, the gold shirts then began to swarm the midfielder and thwarted any further opportunities for the time being after 62 minutes.

There were openings for both sides at either end of the field with ten minutes remaining, Radcliffe substitute Brad Jackson wrapped his foot around the ball with a curling shot that whistled past the post, and Leamington looked to be in behind through Henry Landers, but Maynard managed to get back and intercept with a well-timed challenge.

With the game’s final opening, the Boro came agonisingly close to late drama for the second game in a row when Tom Walker’s corner was met with a towering header by Maynard, his nodded attempt was put inches over and after three minutes of added time at the end of the 90, the final whistle blew with a point a piece going to each side.

Bernard and Jonno’s team will aim to continue to build on the foundations laid over the last two fixtures with a visit to the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium this Tuesday, as we take on Farsley Celtic.
